HVAC TECHS CAN GO ANYWHERE AND FIND A JOB IN THIS ESSENTIAL TRADE

There’s definitely a shortage of guys out there and pretty much every single shop out there is hiring. It’s almost like a hidden secret that there’s so many people needed in the trades.

“I do heating and air for a living. I do everything from service to maintenance to making sure people’s equipment is going to be working okay.

Every day is different. From the experience with different homeowners to different equipment. There are different scenarios every day and some will really challenge you. It makes you better for the next call down the road. Like for instance one time I went to a call for a furnace that was acting funny, it was making a lot of noise. Well there was a squirrel in the exhaust pipe.

Right out of school I started doing commercial large scale stuff. From there I went into residential with more interaction with the homeowner. When you go into someone’s home you’re helping them out, to get them back up and running.

I was always working with my hands. Throughout high school I was always working on cars, oil changes, brakes. I feel like that is a lot of the same things over and over again that I do now. But with this it can be a complete changeover. If you don’t like residential you can go to commercial. If you get tired of commercial, go to pipe fitting. If you don’t like pipe fitting go to refrigeration. The industry is so big you can honestly go anywhere with it.

There’s definitely a shortage of guys out there and pretty much every single shop out there is hiring. It’s almost like a hidden secret that there’s so many people needed in the trades. My future is definitely in the trades whether I want to be in a bigger company or if I want to down the road be a facility maintenance guy. Or the guy who does the 9-to-5 and takes it easy. You can do anything you want, really. It’s up to you where you want to take it.”
