The basic responsibility of the Foreman is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, schedule and control the daily activities at specific job sites, as may be assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the contract, specifications, and work scope on assigned Projects
  • Responsible for all operational aspects of each assigned project including pre-planning, mobilization, construction, finish, and punch list
  • Determine requirements & coordinate mobilization for the project
  • Prepare the project schedule and timelines
  • Responsible for getting the project done on time, at or under budget and according to specification
  • Arrive in advance of the crew to assure that productive work can begin upon arrival of the crew
  • Set and communicate clear start times and schedule support personnel in advance, as needed to assure availability of materials and equipment at the start of each day
  • Prioritize and assign daily activities of all crew members
  • Communicate daily with the Superintendent regarding job progress and issues needing attention
  • Observe all work operations to ensure they are being performed correctly, to specification and in the best possible manner
  • Maintain a productive and efficient working environment on the job site
  • Motivate and lead the crew to perform at the highest level
  • Foreman will be a working member of the crew, unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent
  • Inspect materials being delivered to the job site to ensure conformance to specifications and verify quantities
  • Notify the Superintendent to initiate a purchase order, when materials, parts or supplies are needed immediately
  • Monitor company equipment condition and ensure proper maintenance and routine service is performed as and when required
  • Maintain a safe and clean work site
  • Provide necessary information to enable accurate job costing and tracking of job progress
  • Plan-ahead to forecast manpower and material needs, coordinating requirements with the Superintendent as required
  • Provide an updated schedule to the Superintendent for review at least 24 hours prior to project status review meetings
  • Attend the periodic Project Review Meetings and be prepared to discuss the status of the job status, progress, and utilization of workers and/or Subcontractors
  • Maintain all necessary data for the reporting of time all employees working at the job site and submit on time to the office
  • Report attendance issues to the Superintendent and determine or recommend action required
  • Train and develop individuals assigned to projects
  • Thoroughly complete performance evaluations, as scheduled, required or requested, for assigned Company employees
  • Monitor the job site for compliance with all Company and OSHA safety requirements
  • Enforce and document violations of the company’s safety policies on the job site and involve the company’s Safety Director as needed
  • Uphold and enforce the policies outlined in the employee handbook with the individuals working on his job site
  • Meet with customer representatives on site and achieve quick resolution of customer concerns
  • Take the lead to ensure that change orders are properly completed and maintain the necessary documentation
  • Be responsible for all on-site logistics, material storage, construction equipment, and security.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years as a Foreman running commercial projects, or as a senior Lead Journeyman with proven leadership skills
  • Ability to determine work required and to schedule, guide, direct and coordinate all assigned personnel in its performance
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of construction processes, standards, and codes appropriate to the trade and project
  • Must be able to visualize complex construction projects and identify the most effective job layout and work sequence
  • Must be able to recognize quality work and know what must be done to correct work that is sub-standard
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to OSHA requirements regarding construction sites, work practices and documentation
  • Must be able to forecast manpower and equipment needs
  • Must be able to anticipate problems and incorporate them into forecasts and schedules
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from subcontractors, architects, owners, and/or regulatory agencies
  • Ability to communicate and relate well with customers, employees, vendors, and project team members
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor
  • Ability to do “hands on” work when and as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is also a plus
  • Must have the ability to lift 75 pounds with regularity
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • OSHA 10 hour or 30-hour card
  • Preferred: CPR Certified
