The Lead HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all air conditioning,
electrical and refrigeration equipment: Experienced in many facets of federal building operations
too include HVAC, generators, fuel systems, low voltage switchgear, building automation systems,
RO water systems, static transfer switches, energy monitoring systems and direct digital control;
Experience in the repair, operation, and preventative maintenance of 300-ton water cooled
chillers, along with ancillary equipment; two and four pipe chilled water systems.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform required services for commercial office building and multi building site
  • Repair malfunctioning or failed units, components, and or parts on the HVAC system
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment
  • Respond to emergency calls and weekend service calls as required
  • Attention to detail and perform work in a neat, clean, efficient, and safe manner
  • Able to prioritize and work independently with limited direct supervision
  • Mentor colleagues entering the trades by assisting them in gaining the necessary
    exposure to grow their careers
  • Work in a team environment to assess and overcome challenges as they arise
  • Troubleshoot high and low voltage control circuits such on motors or air conditioning
    units
  • Read and follow electrical prints for troubleshooting repairs
  • Respond to electrical calls from client or tenants
  • Respond to emergency calls after hours
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment on an as needed or requested basis
  • Troubleshoot and operate generators and low-voltage switch gear

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification to operate and maintain mechanical, plumbing, BAS, HVAC (Boilers, Chillers,
    AHU’s) in commercial buildings
  • Certification or attestation of building automation control systems such as BAS, Niagara
    Tridium, JACE, Public Address, and Computerized Lighting Systems
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of architectural and structural systems, fixtures,
    and equipment
  • Experience working in a Government Facility preferred
  • Must be able at times to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to read blueprint diagrams
  • Ability to use computer software to develop and track progress of tasks, specifically, Excel, Word, Email and NCMMS
  • MUST POSSESS an EPA 608 Certification, A/C Refrigeration Operator Certification,
    and one or more of the following certifications:

    o N.A.P.E Certification Air Conditioning III – Operations and Management
    (National Association of Power Engineers)

    o Advanced Boiler Operator Certification

    o International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Journeyman certification
